Mark Grogan - Principal Trainer
Mark has over 25 years experience in the Real Estate / Property industry.
Starting off in Residential Sales in the early 1980’s ( yes......selling houses then for $30,000..!!), he spent five years selling property in the Richmond area. At the same time he completed his Diploma in property at RMIT. Previously he had completed a Degree in Economics and Marketing at Deakin University after leaving school.
With the property bug in place, Mark decided to move into Commercial Sales and leasing, which he did in both Melbourne and later for 3 years in London, taking in a bit of travel along the way.
Back in Australia, Mark decided that Commercial Property Management was the path he wished to follow. He spent 3 years at Fitzroy’s Real Estate as a property manager, and then 5 years with Asia Pacific Building Corporation as their General Manger of Property. This role exposed Mark to both property management and property development. A wonderful experience.
From there, Mark was appointed as the Head of Gorman Kelly Commercial as department head of property management, a role that saw the rent roll grow from 500 properties to over 1000 properties over 4 years.
Then, in 2005, an opportunity arose to purchase a small Commercial rent roll, and even though the timing wasn’t great, Mark decided to grab the opportunity and give it a go. From 40 properties, Mark has grown the rent roll to 120, and is determined to keep going.
Mark had also been involved with training at the REIV for the last 6 years, and found his roll there very enjoyable. He is now excited to continue as a trainer for the Agents Representative and Full License courses along Commercial Property Management continuing professional development courses.
Along the way, Mark has provided a number of fellow real estate agents with advice to assist them and their staff in running a successful Commercial property Management department. This is an ongoing consultancy role which he believes will continue to assist Residential and Commercial Agents with their Portfolios.
Mark has enjoyed his years in the industry. He finds it rewarding, frustrating, and loves the contact and opportunities it has given to him.
